CNCS is moving ahead with renovations to the third floor to create the eighth grade homeroom for next fall. The designs are nearing completion, contractors will soon be offering bids and, once school lets out in June, work will begin.
As designed, the third floor will house a large classroom, IT lab, another Inclusion space, and a breakout room – primarily for use by our sixth through eighth graders. The third floor will also be air conditioned!
Every effort is being taken to make the space as beautiful and accommodating as possible. In addition, other improvements to the building including: fire safety upgrades to the stairwell at the West (nearer Marluth St) side of the school and a fire safety sprinkler system throughout the school. CNCS is including a variety of energy efficiency and green aspects in the construction. We anticipate the project will qualify for special Energy Efficiency Charter School financing form a
national Charter School lender, The Reinvestment Fund.
In addition, CNCS has acquired the house next door. Fundraising efforts are under way to build an addition to the school on that lot. The Expansion Committee will be doing a short presentation of the plans at the April Board meeting. All are encouraged to attend to see the plans and get an update.
